2016 HR Florida Leadership Conference

Join us on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at Rosen Shingle Creek for the 23nd Annual HR Florida Leadership Conference. This event will introduce attendees to a brand new format designed to better provide educational opportunities for all levels of Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) chapter leadership.

This year’s conference theme is “Leading with Courage in 2016.”  The District Director team who serves as the conference planners have created a new and exciting format for the conference that will be sure to impress.

If you are a SHRM affiliated chapter president, president-elect, committee chair, board member or other volunteer leader within the 28 chapters across the state of Florida, this event is for you! We will offer various educational sessions focusing on chapter leadership and management that will provide you with critical information, best practices and tools that you can use to enhance your volunteer leader experience.

Keynote Speaker: Margaret Morford

Keynote Session Title: Management Courage-Having the Heart of a Lion

This program has been submitted for both SHRM and HRCI Recertification credits.


Margaret Morford is CEO for The HR Edge, Inc., an international management consulting and training company. 

Her clients have included top national companies such as, Lockheed Martin, Chevron, Time Warner, Nissan North America, Sara Lee Foods, Home and Garden Television, Nationwide Insurance , NAPA Auto Parts, Homeland Security,  Domino’s,  Schneider Transportation, U.S. Marine Corps, Deloitte, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Intercontinental Hotel Group, National Institutes of Health,  Skanska,  Tractor Supply Company,  Fifth Third Bank,  Northrop Grumman, Miami University, Wells Fargo, The Hartford, TECO Energy, and various local and state governments. 

Prior to owning The HR Edge, Inc., Margaret served as Senior Vice President for a national North Carolina based Human Resources consulting firm.  She has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Alabama and a Juris Doctorate degree from the Vanderbilt University School of Law.  She has worked as an attorney, specializing in employment law as well as Vice President of Human Resources for three large companies. 

She is often quoted as a business expert in newspapers and magazines across the country including The Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Chicago Tribune, MSNBC, CBS Money Watch and Entrepreneur; and appears regularly on local ABC, CBS and Fox television affiliates.  She is the author of the business books: “Management Courage – Having the Heart of a Lion” and “The Hidden Language of Business – Workplace Politics, Power & Influence.”   

This program has been approved for (1) one credit towards SHRM-CP and SHRM SCP re-certification. HR Florida State Council is recognized by SHRM to offer Professional Development Credits (PDCs) for SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP.
