Tim Lambert Named 2016 HR Professional of the Year

Orlando, FL – Annually, the HR Florida State Council recognizes a human resource   leader who has advanced the profession in a significant way. The individuals nominated for this award serve as role models for the profession, setting the standard for others to follow, and applying their expertise to enhance organizational effectiveness.

Tim Lambert was recently named the 2016 Volunteer of the Year at the HR Florida Council meeting and during the annual HR Florida State Conference and Expo. The HR Florida State Council’s success is in large part due to the hard work and support of the volunteer leaders. The Volunteer of the Year is an annual award that recognizes a volunteer who actively supports, promotes, and develops the human resource profession through volunteerism. The winner is selected by a committee and based on the nominees’ overall contributions in supporting local chapters, advancing the profession and driving council effectiveness through outstanding approaches, innovative ideas and promotion of the Society and Council.

Tim has been a council volunteer since 2012, when he served as president of the Greater Pensacola SHRM (Society for Human Resource Management) chapter. Tim began his position as the Director of Workforce Readiness in January 2014.  Since taking on this role, Tim has taken the workforce readiness initiatives to new heights with his consistent and tireless outreach efforts to all SHRM-affiliated chapters around the state of Florida.

Tim’s work ethic is one of a kind, as a volunteer he consistently delivers dynamic results”, said Carol McDaniel, president, HR Florida Council. “His tireless contributions allow the state Council to carry out its mission in serving and supporting the HR profession.”

Volunteer highlights:

  • In 2014, Tim began a partnership between HR Florida and the Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA).  This program is exclusively working with PVA clients of the VA Medical Center in Tampa.  This program connects local SHRM chapters and their members with the PVA clients to assist them with resume’ review, LinkedIn profile review, sharing job leads and key contacts.

  • A new relationship was forged in 2015, when the HR Florida State Council partnered with Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR).  It was Tim’s efforts to introduce and connect the Greater Miami Chapter and ESGR which led to what has now become known as “Operation Resume Review.”  This program and partnership provides resume review and feedback to unemployed or underemployed military service members.
  • This year, 2016, Tim continues to support and connect chapters around the state with ESGR programs such as “Shadow Day.”  This is a day where Chapters and their members can spend a day learning what jobs our military service members have on a base, ship, or bombing range, etc. and how the skills in their military careers transfers to civilian job skills such as leadership and teamwork.
  • Lastly, a new partnership between HR Florida and the CareerSource Florida network began this year in order to connect chapters with the local CareerSource organizations so that they may partner locally by developing their own Business Partnership Advisory Council (BPAC).  BPAC is comprised of regional leaders to share the business needs of employers and spread the word regarding funding and business resources that may be available in those specific regions.  Tim has acted as a liaison between the chapters and CareerSource by providing detailed messaging to the chapters about this initiative as well as providing chapter contact information with CareerSource to assist in the outreach efforts.

“I am so honored for this recognition”, said Tim Lambert. “Because of my volunteer work with the Council, I have grown and gained so much satisfaction in giving back to the communities we serve. It is definitely one of the highlights of my HR career to be named the HR Florida Volunteer of the the Year.

Tim’s commitment, impact, passion and dedication as Workforce Readiness Director qualifies him as the Volunteer of the Year. The HR Florida State Council is proud to honor Tim Lambert with the HR Florida State Council 2016 Volunteer of the Year Award. He is a retired Colonel from the U.S. Army and retired HR Manager from Gulf Power Company and currently resides in Gainesville.
