Director, College Relations 
Carol Lang, SHRM-SCP, SPHR

 

Bio: Carol Lang is currently a Human Resources Consultant with Advancement Associates, Inc.  She has more than 18 years' experience providing HR strategy, direction and support for non-profit and government organizations.  In addition to serving as the Manager of Human Resources & Administration for Miami-Dade Expressway Authority, Carol previously held the position of Human Resources Director for Jackson Health System's International Program and the Jackson Memorial Foundation, as well as Human Resources Director for the Zoological Society of Florida. She received her B.S. from Florida State University and her M.S. in Human Resources Development from Florida International University.

Carol holds the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification and is also certified as a SHRM-Senior Certified Professional. She has been a member of SHRM and GMSHRM for more than 15 years, and has served on the GMSHRM Board of Governors since 2013, most recently as Chapter President in 2018.

Director, Inclusion 
Mary Muniz-Pellicer, MBA, SHRM-CP, PHR
  Bio:  Mary Muniz-Pellicer is the Director of Human Resources at the YWCA of Greater Miami-Dade, Inc. Mary is a multi-lingual professional with 20+ yrs. of experience in Human Resources, Finance, and Administration. Mary has been very active & involved for many years in community and professional organizations. Prior to being President for HRABC chapter in 2018 and Past-President in 2019, Mary served as President-Elect, Diversity Director, Diversity Chair & Co-Chair, Community Relations Director, and College Relations for HRABC for many years. Throughout these years, back and forth, Mary served as the 2013 VP Professional Development, overseeing Programs, Global Forum, Executive Summit, and Certification, 2009 VP of Membership, and 2007 & 2008 HR Florida & Chapter Ambassador for GMSHRM. Mary was also the 2012 President for SMA South Florida chapter, 2015 &2016 VP Marketing & Communications, 2011 President-Elect, 2010 Sponsorship Chair for SMA. Aside from the HR arena, Mary is active in several other volunteer organizations in South Florida, especially relating to Diversity & Inclusion, social justice, or advocacy.

Mary serves on the Dade Coalition for Education and Economic Justice; served as the VP of Legislation & Advocacy, Resource Development Chair, and Social Media Chair for the Miami-Dade County Council of PTAs since 2011/12. Mary was also appointed in 2008 to the NMB Commission on the Status of Women, where she served on the Board for many years. In addition, Mary has done many speaking engagements and presentations covering topics such as job-hunting techniques, interviewing skills, re-vamping resumes, strategic networking, and social media skills for job hunters. In recent years, Mary has presented at the 1st Florida Women’s Conference in Orlando; the Broward County Women’s Empowerment Expo; the City of Miami Gardens Business Expo, the Miami Beach Women’s Conference and Expo, the Regional National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) annual event, the American Society for Public Administration South Florida Chapter, and the YWCA Regional Southeast Conferences to name a few.

Director, HR Certification
Douglas Baber, MBA, DBA(c), SHRM-CP

 

Bio: Douglas Baber is currently the Human Resources & Risk Management Director for St. Lucie County.  Doug has over 15 years of high-level human resources experience in the public sector and is a certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.  He has worked in a variety of capacities specializing in compensation, benefits management, recruitment and retention of employees. 

He is a Society of Human Resources Management Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) holds a Masters of Business Administration and is actively writing his Dissertation for a Doctorate of Business Administration on the “Study of the Relationship between Retention and Methods Managers are Employing to Maintain Intellectual Capital”.  Doug is an active member of the human resources community.  He serves as the Immediate Past-President for the St. Lucie County Human Resource Association (SLCHRA), 2019 HR Florida Conference Charity Chair, and is a member of the Florida City/County Management Association (FCCMA).  He is highly visible throughout his community while serving on various boards and committees throughout St. Lucie County and the Treasure Coast.

Director, Legislative Affairs - Federal 
Kimberly Boulahanis, SHRM-CP, PHR

Bio: Kimberly Boulahanis, PHR, SHRM-CP, leads MHK’s human resources initiatives including talent management and oversight of onboarding and compensation. With more than 20 years in the healthcare industry, Kim brings a wealth of experience and dynamic vision to building a culture of quality and engagement by identifying top talent.

Prior to joining MHK, Kim was Director of Human Resources for Health Integrated where she led strategic initiatives in talent management, employee engagement, compliance and performance management.

Kim has served on The Board of HR Tampa for several years in roles including Director of Programs and Director of Legislative and Government Affairs.  She has also served as Charity Chair for the HR Florida State Council. She has a passion for volunteering and advocacy and is currently an Advocacy Captain for SHRM. 

Kim is a Certified Professional in Human Resources (PHR) and holds her SHRM CP. Kim earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Resources and Organizational Leadership (Summa Cum Laude) from Rasmussen College.

Director, Legislative Affairs - State  
Amanda A. Simpson, ESQ

   

Bio: Amanda Simpson is an Associate in the Orlando, Florida, office of Jackson Lewis P.C. Ms. Simpson is part of the firm’s class action practice group. Since joining Jackson Lewis P.C., Ms. Simpson has handled a number of class and collective actions including wage and hour claims alleging claims of misclassification and off the clock work. Ms. Simpson has also worked with clients on Department of Labor audits as well as voluntary self-audits as to exemption status of hundreds of positions.

She devotes the majority of her practice to counseling and defending employers regarding employment-related matters. Ms. Simpson’s primary practice includes representing clients on a broad array of employment litigation, including wage and hour disputes, claims of discrimination based on disability, race, age, national origin, sex, retaliation, sexual harassment, wrongful discharge, and breach of contract actions.

While attending law school, Ms. Simpson was a teaching assistant for legal research and writing and began her career by clerking in the area of general commercial litigation. Prior to joining Jackson Lewis, Ms. Simpson practiced commercial litigation in Orlando and South Florida in federal, state, and appellate courts covering a vast number of practice areas, including employment litigation. Ms. Simpson has successful trial experience both in the state and federal court levels and argued in front of the District Court of Appeals.

Director, Membership 
Janelle Doharty, MS, SHRM-CP, PHR
  Bio:  Janelle Doharty, SHRM-CP, PHR is Senior Director, Human Resources with Interim HealthCare Inc, the nations oldest home care franchise organization. Janelle has been a SHRM member and local chapter member for over 15 years and started volunteering with her local chapter, Human Resource Association of Broward County (HRABC) in 2010 as Membership chair, a position she held for two years. Subsequently Janelle went on to hold the roles of Program director and then 2017 Chapter President. In that same year, HRABC went on to earn both the HR Florida Chapter Excellence Award for Diversity and Outstanding Leadership Excellence. In 2019, Janelle is excited to join the HR Florida council as Membership Director.

Director, SHRM Foundation 
Andrea Williams, SHRM-SCP, SPHR

 

Bio:  Andrea Williams, SHRM-SCP, SPHR is currently a Human Resources Market Director for AdventHealth.  Her primary location is the Celebration Hospital and she also oversees the Kissimmee and East Orlando locations.  Andrea has over 9 years of experience in Healthcare Human Resources and 20 years in HR overall.  Her career also included positions at the Polk County Sheriff's Office and GEICO. Andrea has a Bachelors's degree from the University of Illinois and a Masters in Employment Law from Nova Southeastern.  She recently completed a 2-year term as President of the Mid-Florida SHRM Chapter.  She also served as the Director of Certification, VP of Administration and President-Elect.  She is now excited to join the HR Florida Council and serve the Chapters.

Andrea has 4 daughters and enjoys spending time with them and her husband.  She also volunteers for Take Heart for Africa; a non-profit that supports orphans and widows in a village in Kenya.

Director, Workforce Readiness 
Mike Owens, SHRM-SCP, SPHR

  Bio:  Mike Owens,  a Human Resources Manager with Pen Air Federal Credit Union, has over 25 years of human resources experience in the corporate and healthcare environments.  His wide range of experiences stem from twenty-two years of military service in the US Army with various worldwide assignments.

Mike’s expertise in human resources has been acquired through focus on employee relations, employment law compliance, supervisor and employee education, human resources consulting and training.  He received his Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Resources and Technology Management from Troy State University in Pensacola.

Mike Owens is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), awarded by the Human Resource Certification Institute and Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP),  awarded by Society for Human Resources Management.  As a Human Resources Manager,  Mike leads a team that provides human resource services for over 350 employees.

Mike is a member of both the national and local chapter of the Greater Pensacola Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM/GPSHRM) and serves on the board of directors as Immediate Past-President  for GPSHRM.   Mike  has volunteered  his time and leadership expertise as a credit union board member,  ECARE Reading Pals mentor and currently serves on the Board of Directors for Junior Achievement of Northwest Florida.   Mike is also a past adjunct instructor for human resource courses at Pensacola State College.
