The HR Florida State Council serves the profession as the premier resource for best practices to the public and Florida human resource professionals.  We achieve many great things together and also want to recognize those efforts and achievements – whether it is a significant impact of an individual, a chapter or the combined efforts of the chapters within our state. 
Below is a listing of awards and recognition that are sponsored annually by the HR Florida State Council.  If you have any questions related to awards and recognition, please contact the Director, Awards & Recognition at

Spirit of Patriotism Award

HR Florida honors professionals who support our armed forces. This new award will recognize a Florida based human resources professional who has demonstrated outstanding support of the Guard and Reserve. The Spirit of Patriotism award honors an HR professional resources professional who has supported the Guard and Reserve by educating themselves, their employer, and/or their local SHRM chapter; and has made a positive impact on not only the employees who are part of the Guard, Reserve, and/or spouses of Guard and Reserve members, but also on the organization’s acceptance the employee’s service to our country.

Guidelines:

  • Entries must be received by the deadline posted.
  • Nominee must be a member of SHRM national, a local SHRM affiliated chapter, or both.
  • Incomplete entries may be disqualified at the discretion of the selection committee.
  • The selection committee may elect not to award a winner at their discretion.

Nominations will be reviewed based upon efforts made by the nominee and results of programs implemented, along with any supporting documentation. Award will be presented at the October 2020 Leadership Conference.

Chapter Excellence Awards

HR Chapters in Florida that have made a difference in the human resource profession and their communities are honored for their work. The Chapter Excellence awards focus on the demonstrated achievements and execution of one or more of the following core leadership areas: 

  • Diversity
  • Workforce Readiness
  • College Relations 
  • Membership 
  • Certification 
  • SHRM Foundation
  • Legislative Affairs 
  • Or ONE outstanding example of chapter leadership! 

Up to four (4) chapter excellence awards will be presented. Chapters must demonstrate wisdom, knowledge, transition, achievement, success, inspiration and change through the execution and accomplishments of one or more of the core leadership areas listed above. 

Guidelines:

  • Entries must be received by September 15, 2020
  • A chapter may apply for one or more of the core leadership areas identified above. 
  • Incomplete entries may be disqualified at the discretion of the selection committee. 
  • The selection committee may elect not to award a winner at their discretion. 
  • Up to four (4) Chapter Excellence awards may be given. 

Submissions are evaluated on the results they achieve. Results are evaluated on both a qualitative and quantitative basis. Awards will be presented at the October 2020 council meeting.

HR Professional of the Year

This annual award recognizes a human resource leader who has advanced the profession in a significant way. “Best in class,” the individuals nominated for this award serve as role models for the profession by setting the standard for others to follow and apply their expertise to enhance organizational effectiveness.

  • Award presented at the annual state conference and associated council meeting attended by 2,000 professionals from around the world!

Volunteer of the Year

Throughout our State Council, our volunteer leaders dedicate countless hours to Advancing the Profession and Serving the Professional.  Without each volunteer leader, HR Florida would not be a success!  This annual award, nominated by the HR Florida Executive Committee, and voted on by our Chapter Presidents, recognizes a state council member who actively supports, promotes, and develops the Human Resource profession through volunteerism.

HR Florida State Council President's Award

The award will recognize one exemplary Chapter President who has significantly impacted the performance of their chapter by leading with a combination of compassion, creativity and innovation.

Eligibility

To be nominated, you must be a president of one of HR Florida’s 28 local SHRM affiliate chapters and be a member in good standing with SHRM. 

Guidelines:

  • Entries must be received no later than September 15, 2020
  • Only 2020 Chapter Board Presidents may be nominated.
  • Nominations may only be submitted by a 2020 Chapter Board Member, President-Elect or District Director. 
  • Self-nominations will not be accepted.
  • Incomplete entries may be disqualified at the discretion of the selection committee.
  • At the discretion of the selection committee, an award winner may not be chosen.

The selection committee will be comprised of the following:
Council President;
Council President Elect;  
Council Awards Director;
(2) additional council members who are not affiliated with a nominated Chapter (these two individuals will be chosen by the Council Awards Director)

The HR Florida State Council will recognize one HR Florida Chapter for outstanding achievements with outreach and impact within the community of which they serve.  This winning chapter will be chosen based on demonstrated achievements in activities, such as;

  • Volunteering
  • Donations of goods
  • Financial donations

  • An honorarium of $750 to the chapter selected
  • A monetary donation in an amount up to $2,500 to a charitable organization of the chapter’s choice; one of which the chapter supported during the calendar year
