Chapter Excellence Awards

Chapter Excellence Awards were introduced this year to recognize chapters that focus on demonstrating achievements and execution in one more Core Leadership Areas (CLAs).  The Award has two levels:  Ruby Class, the highest award level demonstrates wisdom, knowledge and transition and change; and, the Garnet Class which demonstrates achievement, success, inspiration and a goal driven ambition.

The inaugural award winners were announced at the HR Florida State Council dinner at this year’s conference last month.   The winners were:

HR Tampa Logo

HR Tampa won the Ruby Class award for their creation of an internship program with a goal of exposing high school students to the human resource profession.   This 12 month program will enable students to be introduced to the various hr disciplines as well as the positive affect that HR professionals deliver to businesses and communities both locally and abroad.  Members of HR TAMPA responsible for developing this program anticipate that it will begin raising up their own breed of future HR leaders beginning at the high school level.

Garnet Class winners that took home the honors for their chapters were:

SHRM Emerald Coast:  This chapter tackled the issue of membership retention and re-engagement by analyzing which members no longer attended meetings and the demographics of non-renewing members.  The common trend was that the geographic location was not conducive to participation.  As a result, this chapter implemented a satellite chapter.

SHRM Jacksonville:  This chapter not only recognizes the value of partnering with local colleges and universities, but has started a fourth student chapter to prove it!  This chapter’s team continues to make strides toward enriching their student base.

Lake Sumter SHRM and GMSHRM received award recognition for their ongoing programs in a number of Core Leadership Areas that overlap with “Serve the Profession/Advance the Profession” mantra.

The Ruby Class chapter received $1,500 prize, use of this Award’s logo on the chapter’s website, and public recognition during the Wednesday general session.  Each of the Garnet Class chapters received a $500 prize, as well as the use of the logo and public recognition as well.
