Master Series Sessions

“The Leader’s Point of View (P.O.V.): A New Paradigm for Leadership Development” presented by Kathryn W. Davanzo, SPHR.  The best way to enhance leadership effectiveness may surprise you. Kathy will share lessons and insights borne from years of designing and delivering leadership development programs. Kathy suggests that the “next wave” of leadership development should and will be structured around activities and experiences that identify and strengthen each person’s unique leadership point of view. The prevailing one-size-fits-all leadership development programming focusing on prescribed traits, behaviors and competencies will give way to a highly personalized process of inquiry, articulation, and mastery. .

“Follow The Yellow Brick Road: Using HR Technology To Drive Business Results” presented by Naomi Bloom.  For organizations to achieve essential business results, their HR leaders must establish a clear and direct line of sight -- and, therefore, a business case -- (1) from their organization's overall objectives and needed outcomes, (2) to what the people side of the business must accomplish to achieve those results and deliver those solutions, (3) to the required HRM delivery system (HRMDS) and HR technology investments. During her workshop, Naomi will introduce an approach to business outcomes, strategic HRMDS planning, walk you through the process, and answer questions about the role HR technology must play in human resource management.

“A New Paradigm for HR” presented by Ronald C. Pilenzo, President and CEO of The Global HR Consultancy.  The major threat facing HR today is the inability of HR to define itself in terms of what constitutes a true profession and how to create the business partnership it strives to achieve. Learn how to make a business case for moving the profession to the next level by using a building block approach in analyzing the need for a new HR paradigm.

"Examining Cultural Differences: Increased Awareness for Global Leaders” presented by Heather Keller, PHD.  With the workplace becoming more and more global, and communities becoming more and more multicultural, understanding cultural differences and learning how to effectively interact with people from diverse backgrounds is imperative for today’s human resource professional. By exploring differences in behaviors, values, attitudes, and beliefs across cultures, including Asia, Africa, Eastern and Western Europe, the Middle East, and North / South America, this session is designed to provide an understanding of how culture, impacts organizations and the people who comprise them.

"The New China: Challenges and Changes in the New World Order” presented by Dr. Robert Robertson.  China will soon be the world’s largest economy—again. What does this mean for the United States and global human resource management? All companies large and small must understand the rise of the new China as an economic super power and the impact of the growing Chinese economy on the world. Specifically, the session will explore the impacts of the growth of the Chinese economy on the United States and identify issues and impacts associated with the growth of China on global human resource management.

Volunteers Needed!

Each year HR Florida’s Conference & Expo is made possible by volunteers. The conference is actually run entirely by a dedicated group of volunteers. Although we are not able to offer discounts to the conference to volunteers, it is still a great opportunity to network with your fellow HR colleagues and form lifelong relationships.  If you are interested in being part of this fun and dynamic team you can register by clicking here. You may volunteer in more than one target area and for multiple shifts as well. We appreciate your participation in making this year’s event a success. As a token of our gratitude, volunteers are provided with an appreciation gift.  For questions related to volunteering, please contact Barbara Matsumoto, Volunteer Coordinator at
