HR Florida is pleased to announce its 9th Annual Legislative Conference (formerly Day on the Hill) in Tallahassee on February 12, 2020

Emily M. Dickens, J.D., SHRM's Corporate Secretary and Chief of Staff , will explain how SHRM is providing the tools and resources to impact workplace policy. Dickens will discuss the necessity for understanding the United States civic and political history to fully engage in federal and state policy and cover SHRM's legislative agenda.

Come hear Dickens presentation:  Your Voice Matters: How We Can Elevate the Voice of HR and Impact Workplace Policy

This  event will begin at noon (check in opens at 11 am) on February 12th with a series of informative presentations.  Following the presentations, there will be an attendee  reception from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm at the Four Points by Sheraton Downtown Tallahassee.  That evening, attendees will be free to dine and network with fellow HR Florida members at local restaurants of their choice.  The event will continue all day on Thursday, February 13th, with breakfast at the Four Points by Sheraton Downtown Tallahassee, followed by our visit to the Capitol.  There, we will meet with legislators and/or their staff where we'll advocate on public policy issues of importance to the HR profession.  During the presentations on February 12th, SHRM and HR Florida will prepare attendees for their meetings on the Hill and will provide assistance in preparing for those meetings.  After the visit to the Capitol, attendees will then reconvene for a debriefing at the Four Points by Sheraton Downtown Tallahassee to discuss the legislators' reaction to information provided by HR Florida, and how we may further advance our objectives.

Fees

There is no registration fee for the Legislative Conference, including the reception and breakfast, and certification credit is expected for the event.

HR Florida reimbursement guidelines provide details of what expenses will be reimbursed based on role within the chapter or state council.

Who Should Attend

We would like every HR Florida chapter to send at least two representatives to this event.  Presidents (or President-Elects) and Legislative Directors would be excellent representatives.

We need your help introducing our legislators to HR Florida, educating them on how we can be a valuable resource on legislation affecting the workplace, and shaping that legislation of concern to our profession.
