Lynn Heckler Named 2015 HR Professional of the Year
Orlando, FL – Annually, the HR Florida State Council recognizes a human resource leader who has advanced the profession in a significant way. The individuals nominated for this award serve as role models for the profession, setting the standard for others to follow, and applying their expertise to enhance organizational effectiveness.
Lynn Heckler was named the 2015 HR Professional of the Year in the presence of more than 1,500 HR leaders at the State conference. The award was presented by HR Florida State Council. Lynn is currently employed with PSCU and a member of the Suncoast Human Resources Management Association (SHRMA).
Heckler is a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), and earned her Business Administration degree from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Lynn is an active member of SHRM, having served as past President for SHRMA. She takes every opportunity to advance the HR profession by serving on panels and speaking at various community events.
Heckler is Executive Vice President, Talent at PSCU in St. Petersburg, FL. In this role, she leads all human resources from the most ethical and responsible position possible. She commits herself to ongoing professional development and staying abreast of the most recent changes in HR law and best practices. Lynn champions the development of others as ethical leaders, whether they are front-line managers or fellow executive-suite partners, and is never afraid to bring new perspectives forward.

Heckler has taken on several large projects while at PSCU, some of which include:
-The HR Partner: The HR Business Partner concept has become very popular within the HR profession as a value add. To this end, Lynn has created an environment where HR clearly adds value. Implementation of the HR Business Partner model strengthens the partnership between HR and PSCU senior leaders. This allows HR to develop a strategy that closely aligns with the organizations strategic initiatives and long-term plan. Lynn openly engages everyone to learn the business in order to continue to provide top service to HR’s clients (internal Business Units). Lynn has dedicated herself to knowing our business and participates at the highest level in strategic planning.
-The Wellness Program: One specific way that Lynn advances the HR profession and drives organizational effectiveness is her approach to advancing Health and Wellness at PSCU. Lynn’s approach to Health and Wellness stands apart other similar sized companies. She maintains an ongoing commitment to providing onsite fitness options including: group classes, one-on-one personal training, and on-site consultation with a fully certified and insured fitness trainer ready to serve all employees.
PSCU nominated Heckler for the award with the belief that the HR professional is more than a title on a business card and role one plays at a company; rather, to be a true HR professional it takes an innate desire to be a servant to the profession as well as to an organization’s employees and their families. Lynn Heckler not only embodies this premise, but she does so with so much genuine love.
