2011 SHRM Leadership Recap
We were delighted to once again participate in SHRM's national Leadership Conference in Washington, DC, November 17 - 19. Over 50 volunteers from HR Florida's 28 chapters from around the state joined State Council volunteers to attend topical sessions ranging from general leadership to tips for expanding chapter membership. Several Florida attendees also attended the national Day on the Hill event sponsored by SHRM's legislative team.
Following the Open House at SHRM headquarters in Alexandria, HR Florida hosted a reception and dinner at Jaleo to recognize Florida attendees and to welcome new chapter leaders to the organization. The ladies in attendance received a fleece scarf and the gentlemen received a stadium blanket. Everyone enjoyed a great meal and libations. In addition to the events provided by SHRM, many of our members enjoyed sightseeing and shopping excursions as well as the night life offered by our nation’s capitol.
We were recognized as the 2nd highest state council contributor to the SHRM Foundation and as a Pinnacle Award state council finalist.
(Note: According to SHRM, nearly 900 volunteer leaders attended and the initial feedback comments have been very positive).
