President's Message

Heather Vogel, MHR, SPHR

Heather Vogel

First, congratulations are in order to our state council for being a national finalist for the 2011 SHRM Pinnacle Award. This annual awards program honors the highest achievements in chapters and councils that enhance the development of effective HR management. Our submission was “Meeting the Unique Needs of the HR Executive,” presenting how the council is working to meet the unrequited educational and networking needs of executive level professionals across the state by hosting the premier HR Executive Summit, “Where the Conversation Begins.” While we didn’t win this year, we’re very proud that HR Florida was a finalist – it just shows we’re on top of our game and we’ll get ‘em next year!

Don’t forget to register for the upcoming HR Florida State Leadership Conference to be held on Saturday, January 7, 2011 at the Marriott Renaissance at International Plaza in Tampa. Be sure to bring all your board members and committee chairs to this FREE volunteer leader development event. For more information and to register, please visit www.hrflorida.org and click on the 2012 Leadership Conference link on the home page.

As our year of working to shape energetic, educated and engaged HR business professionals who are an influence draws to a close, I must thank our Executive Committee for their true commitment to the success of this organization: Joyce Chastain–President-Elect; Carol McDaniel–Vice President; Shannon Lands–Treasurer; Marty Bryson–Secretary; Dana Chatelain–State Conference Director; and Kitty Fields–Immediate Past President. Without these fine people, our many accomplishments would not have come to fruition. It has been an honor to work with this incredible team to further HR Florida’s mission.

And finally, on behalf of the 2011 Executive Committee, I want to thank YOU for the gift of time, energy and expertise you have freely given to HR Florida. We couldn’t have supported our profession as we have without your dedication. It has been my privilege to work with you and I look forward to all that we will accomplish next year.

My best of wishes to you and yours for a very happy, healthy holiday season. Looking forward to seeing you in 2012!

Warmest regards,
