HR Florida Wins SHRM EXCEL Award
Heather Vogel, MHR, SPHR
I am very excited to announce that SHRM has awarded the HR Florida State Council, the Silver EXCEL Award for 2010. This award recognizes our outstanding achievements in state council operations and our commitment to providing meaningful programs and services within the state of Florida. By achieving this award, our State Council has distinguished itself as an outstanding organization dedicated to serving the needs of HR professionals and to the advancement of the human resource management profession.
Kudos to each and every one of our 65+ volunteers who’ve worked hard to help HR Florida achieve this worthy recognition and many thanks to our past president, Kitty Fields for her leadership and focus on getting the SHAPE application completed.
The SHRM Affiliate Program for Excellence (SHAPE) has been designed to ensure a strong connection between SHRM and our state council from a business perspective. In addition to clearly outlining our requirements to measure state council alignment and engagement with SHRM’s overall objectives, the SHAPE focuses on activities and initiatives which are more strategic in nature. These efforts allow us to increase our viability and effectiveness, as well as promote the HR profession at the state level. SHAPE raises the bar of excellence and uses the EXCEL Awards as a tiered recognition and awards system.
We will shortly be receiving a certificate of accomplishment and an award banner that we will display at council meetings and other HR Florida-related events. In addition, we will be sending a press release out to Florida-based media to get the word out about our accomplishment. Throughout the year SHRM will also be recognizing our achievement as a Silver EXCEL award winner in its publications and at its conferences.
Congratulations to all of you on our 2010 achievements – we couldn’t have done it without you!
