The Foundation is off and running with plans to promote the Silent Auction and the Sweet Suite deal at the Conference. We are reaching out to our chapter presidents and foundation chairs to promote the various and extensive resources that SHRM members may benefit from. Vendors attending the conference are beginning to get excited about ideas of some really great items that will be offered at the Silent Auction. In addition, there may be a really exciting never offered before item at the auction this year that will “drive” attendees wild! Shhh! Too much information might spoil the surprise.

Donations from your chapter for the Silent Auction are needed to make this event a stand-out success. Whether your chapter is small, large or somewhere in the middle you can make a difference to the outcome of the auction by making a donation. Sometimes it is extremely difficult to decide what item or items to donate. May I make a suggestion? Donate cash towards the purchase of an item for the auction. For instance, maybe your chapter can afford to send $100 and another chapter can afford to send $50…together that $150 has more buying power. Plus, you avoid the chance of sending the same item as another chapter. And, something that many of us may not consider is that while gift cards are great items, they don’t generate the same level of excitement that an actual prize does.
