Did we have a fantastic council meeting last month in Tampa?! At our pre-council dinner on Thursday evening on strategic communication, I learned that I’m a “Feeler,” able to read what’s happening in terms of people’s energy. Well, let me tell you – at our council meeting I didn’t need to be a Feeler to gauge all the energy, engagement and excitement in the room! You enthusiasm continues to inspire your Executive Council every day as we work to advance the profession and serve the professional.
Here is a list of some of the key things we discussed and decisions made during the meeting:
Career in Transition Support in partnership with Right Management – did you know that HR Florida has arranged for FREE career support for our members in transition? If you’re an employer, you can post jobs for FREE; if you’re in transition you can receive job postings and career services for FREE. It’s a win/win. Check it out at www.hrflorida.org on the HR Careers tab.
Salary Survey Data specific to Florida in partnership with Compdata Surveys – this is a new partnership that gives HR Florida the opportunity to offer its members comprehensive pay and benefits data at a significant discount. Use promo code HRFL50 at www.compdatasurveys.com.
Chapter Coverage Area Review Taskforce – interested in serving on a state-wide taskforce to explore chapter coverage areas and the idea of satellite meetings? There are HR folks out there who we could tap for membership by providing meetings closer to home or office. If you’re interested in joining the taskforce, please contact Debbie Winkles at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Chapter Special Interest Group Taskforce – want to participate on a task force to determine special interest groups (e.g., public HR, global, etc.) at the chapter level to help our members delve into area-specific HR? If so, please contact Joyce Chastain at email@example.com.
Other topics discussed included a partnership with the Florida Workers Compensation Institute to sponsor an HR Track at their upcoming national conference in Orlando. We also talked about putting together a summit for our senior HR executives in 2012. These projects are in the early stages and more about them will be shared soon.
Don’t forget! Also on the horizon is our very own HR Florida State Conference & Expo, which will once again be held at the beautiful Rosen Shingle Creek Resort in Orlando. Festivities, networking and learning opportunities begin on August 29. More information about our conference can be found in this edition of the eSource or at www.hrfloridaconference.org. Be sure to register soon as space is filling quickly! If you want to get up-to-the-minute updates, check out HR Florida on Twitter, hash tag #HRFL11, or on our Facebook and LinkedIn pages.
Finally, as you prepare for Memorial Day, thank the veterans in your life and remember those who have given up their life to serve our country.
Best wishes to you all for a safe and happy holiday!
