First of all, thank you so much for your patience as we go through the “growing pains” of getting a new web-based module up and running for the eSource. My gratitude goes out to Aisha Butcher, Marty Bryson and Stephen Harrison for the countless (and thankless!) hours they have put in to launch this incredible new tool. The new eSource is just spectacular – easy to use and chock full of great need-to-know information. Remember, use the eSource as one of your “go to” sources to find out what’s happening in the world of HR Florida.
We’ve had some changes in our support team, which you’ll learn more about at the April council meeting. Our very own Toni Mayros has moved over to take on the position of Awards Director and we’re thrilled to welcome Jim Gallo back to the council as College Relations Director. In addition, we are happy to announce that Teresa Beckta has been appointed as our SHRM Foundation Director. This leaves us with a vacancy in our Communications Director position. Please spread the word and if you or anyone you know is interested in the position, the job description can be downloaded by clicking here. You may also contact Marty Bryson at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information. The position will require some technical, writing and editing skills to add to our communications and technology team!
Speaking of “go-to” sources, we want HR Florida to be your go-to for resources and support as you go about your volunteer business. We’re here to help in any way we can as we work together to "shape energetic, educated and engaged HR business professionals who have an influence on the field and the organizations they serve.” One of the ways we’re working this is by hosting quarterly council meetings. This quarter’s meeting will be held at the Tampa Intercontinental Hotel on April 8, starting with the breakfast brainstorm at 7:30AM. In addition we have a special pre-council dinner event scheduled for April 7 from 7:00-8:30PM on strategic communication with Gina Potito of Drake, Beam & Morin, Inc. If you haven’t already done so, please register for the dinner and the meeting online now! President-elects are welcome to attend both the dinner and the meeting; feel free to check the website if you need any travel reimbursement-related information.
And…it’s that time to start thinking about this year’s professional development. The SHRM 63rd Annual Conference & Exposition is June 26-29 in Las Vegas. Also on the horizon is our very own HR Florida State Conference & Expo, which will once again be held at the beautiful Rosen Shingle Creek Resort in Orlando from August 29-31. Be sure to register soon as we expect this year’s event to be a registration record-breaker!
Lastly, please send to email@example.com your monthly meeting schedule and any special events so that we can update our Community Calendar. We want to help publicize your events and would love to participate should any of our HR Florida colleagues be in your area.
See you at the council meeting in Tampa!
