With many states including Florida rolling out mandatory E-Verify at various levels, employers and human resource departments must understand how the E-Verify system works. Also there has been a massive increase in audits and investigations by U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) and U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) regarding employer immigration compliance related to I-9, E-Verify and compliance with terms of immigration regulations including for H-1B specialty occupation visa employees and regarding PERM labor certifications. This seminar will provide attendees with an update both from Washington and from Tallahassee as to Federal and Florida legislation, regulation, policy and guidance related to immigration employer compliance. We will take a close look at E-verify and how it would apply in different employment hiring scenarios. We will also examine current I-9 practices and compare I-9 vs. E-Verify. We will examine the recurring phenomenon of Social Security Administration (SSA) no matches.
