Program Summary

With the workplace becoming more and more global, and communities becoming more and more multicultural, understanding cultural differences and learning how to effectively interact with people from diverse backgrounds is imperative for today’s human resource professional. By exploring differences in behaviors, values, attitudes, and beliefs across cultures, including Asia, Africa, Eastern and Western Europe, the Middle East, and North / South America, this session is designed to provide an understanding of how culture, impacts organizations and the people who comprise them.

Speaker Bio

For the past 16 years, Dr. Heather R. Keller, owner of Successfully Communicating, LLC has dedicated her career to helping employees develop their intercultural communication and management skills. She designs and delivers customized training programs in the areas of cross-cultural awareness, leadership, team building, diversity, and interpersonal communication. Heather has worked with front-line employees, middle managers, and senior executives from organizations such as Dell, Honeywell, Procter & Gamble, Intel, the American Red Cross, the State of Ohio, and the City of Phoenix. She provides cross-cultural training for employees from around the world who are relocating to live and work in other cultures.

Dr. Keller regularly speaks on the topic of global leadership and intercultural awareness at national and regional conferences including the Society for Human Resource Management and the American Society for Training and Development. Additionally, for 10 years, she taught international communication and management courses for several universities in both MBA and undergraduate programs. Heather obtained her Ph.D. from Ohio University in interpersonal communication with concentrations in cross-cultural and organizational communication. She also holds a master's degree in education with an emphasis in organizational behavior, a bachelor's degree in psychology, and a bachelor's degree in interpersonal communication.
